This type of system is required when a larger space or larger number of rooms are to be air conditioned. The indoor unit is installed in the ceiling cavity of your home. Each room has an outlet in the ceiling for the air flow. These outlets are connected in the ceiling by flexible duct. A ducted system can be zoned to make it easier to control each room either together or individually. Remote controllers or wall mounted controllers allow you to set your desired temperature, choose energy saving and other modes, and set timers for the air conditioning to start and stop automatically at the times you choose.
Ceiling cassette System
Ceiling cassette systems are an ideal option to air condition rooms where there are no available walls to mount a split system or where there is limited ceiling space for a ducted system. These are very discreet, with only the grill showing in the ceiling. These units fit neatly into the ceiling and distribute conditioned air through 2, 3 or 4 sides of the unit.
High Wall Split
Split system air conditioners have two pieces which are spilt between the inside of a house and the outside. The indoor or ‘head’ unit is usually high on the wall in a room inside the house and the outdoor piece is generally directly behind (on the other side of that wall) but on the outside of the house.
Split systems tend to be more efficient for a size range as their components are generally less constrained by size. Split systems have the advantage of being quieter indoors during operation.
Inverter Systems
An inverter air conditioner allows the unit to continuously regulate its thermal power flow by converting the power from AC power to DC power. This means that the compressor’s speed can be varied by eliminating stop-start cycles increasing efficiency, extending the life of components, and helping to eliminate sharp fluctuations in the load the air-conditioner places on the power supply.
Multi Split System
For greater versatility, inverter multi-split system models allow multiple indoor units to be connected to a single outdoor unit. The multi-split system allows for more than one indoor unit to be operated from a single outdoor unit. This makes it an economic answer in multi-room applications.
RAC (Room air conditioner)
An RAC refers to a ‘Room Air Conditioner’. These are the types of air conditioners that you commonly find sitting in windows.
This type of air conditioner is no longer commonly found in many brands as the Government has recommended that the split system type air conditioners are more economical, quieter and more energy efficient.
